Ontario Regulation of TCM Update

  • The College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists (CTCMPAO) will be formally established by March 2013
  • Development of National Examinations on TCM and acupuncture is hopefully to be completed by 2013
  • “Entry-level Occupational Competencies for the Practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Canada” developed by the Canadian Alliance of Regulatory Bodies (CARB) for TCMA will be used for the evaluation and examination of individuals who wish to practice TCM and Acupuncture in Ontario when TCM Act is proclaimed.
  • 5 years of Ontario experience is a mandatory requirement for Grandparented registration. Grandparented members must go through the PLAR process and other requirements to transfer into Full registration without writing the Competence Examinations and completing formal schooling.
