TSTCM is Moving Towards Main Stream Health Care System
Aug 12, 2010
As one of the leading educational institutions of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in North America, TSTCM continues to improve our curriculum and quality of training. We are also moving forward to introduce TCMA into main stream health care system through research, education and patient care.
Dr. Mary Wu has joined the University of Toronto Wilson Center for Advancing Healthcare Education and Practice Through Research.
The practice of acupuncture is moving toward developing accreditation standards, yet there is little research on what constitutes competent or even expert acupuncture performance. In order to promote the teaching and evaluation of acupuncture skills, the unique features of expert acupuncture needling will be investigated. Dr. Mary Wu, President of TSTCM and a recognized TCMA expert, has been asked to join Dr. Heather Carnahan from the Wilson Center at the University of Toronto, Dr. Jing Li from Nanjing Sports Institute of China, and other researchers to study the Role of motor control and perceptual acuity in the acquisition and performance of acupuncture skills. The results of the study will be used to help develop performance standards and new educational approaches.
